Carnival 2013, Spirit Award Winner  Helen Scales

On the day before the 103rd Carnival parade, Prize Giving on the Green saw Helen Sceales awarded ‘Spirit of Yarmouth Carnival’ for the coming year. The prize is awarded to some one who embodies the best of Carnival – joining in all round, having a caring and helpful disposition, and above all having a really enthusiastic outlook on life. It is a great honour to win the award.

She received her presents and the cup from President Brenda Garlick with mayor, Steve Cowley.

Last year’s ‘Spirit’ Carl Ingram, has offered to deputise if Helen is unable to attend.

The cup was first donated by Sue and David Langford in 1992 as an award for some one aged 13 – 16 who tries hard without the need to win. Sue and David, with their family, are tireless workers and supporters of Yarmouth Carnival.
